Why we built this
If you're here, you probably know the script: years of symptoms, doctors who don't listen, lab work that "looks fine," prescriptions that don't address what's actually wrong. You leave the appointment knowing something is off — but with no path forward.
Functional medicine exists for exactly this. Practitioners trained in this approach run deeper labs, ask better questions, and treat the system — not the symptom. The problem? Finding the right one is nearly impossible.
The existing directories are either gatekept by certification bodies, padded with practitioners who don't really specialize in functional medicine, or built so poorly that filtering by "Hashimoto's specialist in Austin" is impossible.
We're fixing that.
Our promise: Every practitioner on this directory has been license-verified, screened for legitimate functional medicine training, and tagged with the specific conditions they actually treat. No fake credentials, no random "wellness coaches," no paid placement masquerading as expertise.
What makes us different
Search by condition, not category
Most directories let you search "functional medicine doctor." Useful, but vague — every practitioner is different. We let you search by the actual condition you're dealing with, so you find someone who treats Hashimoto's day in and day out, not someone who's seen three cases this year.
Verification, not just self-reporting
We verify every state medical license before a profile goes live. License numbers are confirmed against the state's official database. Certifications (IFM, A4M, etc.) require documentation.
Patient reviews from actual patients
Reviews are verified — we confirm the reviewer was an actual patient before publishing. No anonymous trolls, no astroturfing, no purchased reviews.
Transparent pricing
Functional medicine is mostly cash-pay. We display pricing ranges so you know what to expect before you book. No surprise bills.
Inclusive of all functional medicine training
IFM certification is excellent — and so is A4M, IFMP (naturopathic), advanced fellowships, and other recognized training. We don't gatekeep by one specific certification body. Quality of clinical work matters more than which acronym appears on the degree.
What we're not
We're not a medical service. We don't provide medical advice, diagnoses, or treatment recommendations. We're a directory that helps you find a qualified practitioner — what happens in your consultation is between you and them.
We're also not paid by practitioners to recommend them over others. Featured listings are clearly labeled. Search rankings are not influenced by payment beyond the transparent "Featured" placement tier.
Who we are
FunctionalMedFind was founded in 2026 by a team frustrated with watching family members get dismissed by conventional doctors and burned by unqualified "wellness" practitioners. We built the resource we wished we'd had.
We're a small, independent team. We're not backed by a hospital system, a pharmaceutical company, or any practitioner network. Our only incentive is to help patients find the right care — because when we do that well, practitioners come pay for visibility.
